Matthew 13:44 (ESV)
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Jesus holds up a vision of a kingdom that is our greatest treasure. To have the kingdom is to have the JOY of having everything that really matters. Paul echos a similar idea in Philippians 3. He threw aside all of his other treasures for the sake of knowing Jesus. The king is THE treasure of the kingdom — not a castle, territory or riches.
Are you leading where your joy is HIS kingdom? Do leaders make a mistake if they seek to USE His kingdom to build their own kingdom?
